Many construction sites are not as safe as they could be. The reality is that many construction site accidents can be prevented if the employer implements smart and enforceable safety practices. Workers should be properly trained in the operation of machinery, and the site properly managed according to legal standards. As an employer, what are the actions that you will be considered to make sure that your employees will work in safe at the site.
The issue of quality or the lack of it has been a major concern for the Malaysian construction industry. There is a strong perception that the majority of quality-related issues and problems mainly caused by human factor. This perception remains uncertain as no research has been conducted to investigate its authenticity. This paper highlights the level of professional ethical standards in the local construction industry and presents the influence of ethics to construction quality based on the results obtained from a questionnaire survey and personnel interviews. The objectives of this research are to identify the correlation between quality-related issues and professional ethics and to examine the influence of professional ethics in quality management practice.
1. Conduct a patrolling session around the site during construction work
Appoint a representative to survey how our workers do their job every particular time along construction work duration.
2. Provide daily relevant briefing to our workers right before the construction progress began.
Give some effective explanations to our workers on what should they conduct without neglecting the procedures given.
3. Monitoring our employees for every time in the site.In order to take care of our workers safety and healthy, monitoring them at the site is the best way to avoid them from neglecting work ethics.
4. Delegating our assistance to make an observation on every work done by our employees
To ensure that the best product is obtained, there are necessary to make a checking on every work which just done by our workers.
5. State safety sign board or guidance to be obeyed by our employees at the site.In conjunction to remind our workers to work in safe at the site , by stating the safety signboard is the best way to remind our workers so that they do not neglect what is the important action to be concerned by our workers.
6. Invite Construction Industrial Development Board (CIDB) to observe our workers’ safety and healthy
Considering occupational safety and health from the planning stage onwards in all construction work. Work has to be coordinated between all parties involved in planning and doing the work.
7. Penalty on those who violate ethical To introduce to the workers that since they are doing the mistake , they would be penalized strictly by authorize.
8. Safe equipment identified
Ensuring safe work equipment (covers suitability, selection, safety features, safe use, training and information, inspection and maintenance).
9. Provide personal protective equipment
Providing personal protective equipment (hard hats, safety harnesses, eye and respiratory protection, safety footwear etc.) appropriate for the risks involved and where they can not be prevented by other means.
10. Specify the work scope
Following a general framework to manage health and safety, including: assessment and prevention of risks; giving priority to collective measures to eliminate risks; consulting employees, providing information and training; and coordination on safety with contractors.
