1. Identify what type of metal roof you have and purchase an identical one.
2. Clean the damaged area or the whole you need to patch up. You may use a water blast or an all-purpose cleaner. Make sure it has dried and that bits of gravel, dirt, or rusted pieces are completely removed. To remove clinging stains, rub with a metal brush.
3. Cut out a piece of metal, making it two inches larger than the whole that needs patching. To cut out pieces of metal use a sharp tin shears.
4. Fold the corners of the patch at least ½ inches around, then sand the folded edge until it shines or shinier compared to the rest of the patch.
5. Apply flux on the folded corners and to the surface of the patch where it should attach. This should firmly glue the patch.
6. Set the patch and hold it down with a heavy object, a brick or block will do. Set the solder well around the corners of the patch then melt it down using a soldering iron. Make sure all the edges are properly sealed and leaving no open spaces for more effective patch.
7. Cover the soldered patch with cement.
8. Cut another metal piece, bigger than the whole patch and place it over the cement. Coat the second piece of metal patch once again with cement.
